Contract Satisfaction Guarantee: Cochrane
Martial Arts contracts run from September to June each year with
the months of July and August as optional. We do this for our
members’ convenience. If you become a member part way through
the year, your contract would run from the month you started to
the month of June. If you must exit your contract at any time
(for any reason), we only require a 30 day written notice of
your wish to terminate and your contract and payments will be
cancelled. Contract prices allow you access to unlimited classes
each month. We truly wish for all our members to be happy and
satisfied with the service they receive.

PROGRAM OVERVIEWS
Goju Ryu Karate
(semi-contact) – Karate-do which literally means ‘empty hand
way’, is a Japanese martial art system. While training in the
art of Karate begins with the basic concepts of fitness and
self-defence, the true goal of an ‘Art’ is the development of
the individual on all levels. Rooted in principles that have
stood the test of time, continued training eventually yields
greater rewards in the form of enhanced self-confidence and a
better understanding of how to maximize personal potential.
Family Karate Class (no sparring) – Friday Evenings –
This is a great chance to participate in an activity as a family
that few other sports allow. Spend some quality family time, be
active together and learn a valuable life skill in the process
(we ask the parents assistance in keeping the youngest members
of the family focused and on task during class)!
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (contact grappling/no striking) –
Frequently referred to as ‘ground fighting’, Brazilian Jiu
Jiitsu employs a variety of techniques including takedowns,
pins/control positions, and submission holds such as chokes and
joint locks. Earnest training in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jiitsu
allows a smaller person to develop the skills and attributes to
control and defeat a larger opponent. Sparring, commonly
referred to as 'rolling', and live drilling play a major role in
training.
Children’s/Teen Brazilian Jiu Jitsu – (contact grappling/no
striking) Session Program – see above for dates and times
Cardio Kickboxing (pad-hitting contact) – This dynamic
and effective art of attack and defence incorporates western
style boxing with the kicks of the eastern martial arts. This
class is an upbeat cardiovascular workout that emphasizes proper
footwork, kicking, punching and blocking techniques while
getting one of the best whole body workouts available.

Heavy Bag &
Pad Hitting Workout (no sparring) – Hitting pads is one of
the best activities for burning calories, cardio development,
building muscle, developing your core and relieving frustration!
This class requires no previous martial arts training and if you
are new to the martial arts, you will be taught the correct way
to throw a punch and kick. If you already have martial arts
experience, this is a great cross-over class. Class will consist
of a quick warm up and then move quickly into a mixture of heavy
bag work, pad hitting combinations and sprints.
Kid’z
Movement Martial Arts for 4 and 5 year olds ( no sparring) –
This 30 minute, 5 week session program incorporates a variety of
movement based activities that enhance your child’s hand/eye
coordination, balance and core stability which are all
pre-requisite skills for the martial arts. This will be a very
spontaneous and loosely structured class with class dynamics
dictating each day’s activities. Pre-registration for this
program is required.
